In Singapore, chronic diseases have been on a worrying increase, and nutrition is closely linked to people’s health outcome.Based on MOH’s 2022 data (1), alarming high rates of hypertension (high blood pressure) to 32% (from 24.2% in 2017) and hyperlipidaemia (high cholesterol) to 37% (from 35.5% under the same period of comparison) is noted. It is crucial for professional and evidenced-based support be rendered to a fast-aging population, such as the senior women. This course focusses on nutritional approaches for weight management, hypertension, high cholesterol and diabetes mellitus. It is structured to empower women of WINGS with food and nutrition knowledge in the prevention of chronic diseases.

Leow Su Chuen Belinda

Belinda Leow is an accredited nutritionist with a Human Nutrition degree from the University of Otago and a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Nutrition from the International Olympic Committee. Since 2020, she has led nutrition workshops for older adults, focusing on evidence-based strategies to improve health and prevent issues like frailty and poor mobility. Belinda is also a committee member of the Singapore Nutrition and Dietetic Association (SNDA) and founder of My Dietary Strategies.
