Interstellar

Interstellar

Director: Christopher Nolan

Cast: Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Michael Caine.

Year of Release: 2014

Running Time: 169 minutes

In a world ravaged by environmental disasters and set adrift in the vast emptiness of space, a group of astronauts venture out to find a new home. Interstellar captures perfectly the bleakness of open space, echoed by the desolate landscape of Earth, and contrasts it with the intense isolation created by the claustrophobic confines of the vessels in which the astronauts travel.

A work of speculative fiction featuring wormholes and tesseracts, Interstellar received the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects in 2015. The science of its speculative fiction was kept as realistic as possible, courtesy of consulting theoretical physicist Kip Thorne, and even broke new ground in the study of black holes. But at its heart, the film is about the bonds of love and hope that sustain humanity through adverse conditions.

A sweeping saga spanning multiple worlds and times, Interstellar is an enthralling mix of high action and crushing drama that will surely delight.
