This module is to introduce learners to the basic spoken Malay language within the Singaporean context. Topics include basic greetings, salutations and forms of address, description of oneself and occupation, telling the time and day, buying food and drinks, talking about hobbies, and expressing your likes and dislikes.

Trainer's Profile
Dr. Aishah Mohamad Kassim
Dr. Aishah became a teaching staff of the Centre for Language Studies (CLS) in January 2002. She graduated from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences NUS majoring in Malay Studies and History. She received a Diploma in Education from the Institute of Education (Singapore) and a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from the University of Glasgow (UK). Prior to joining CLS, she worked as Education Officer and later as Project Development Specialist with the Ministry of Education (MOE) for several years. She is currently the Convenor of the Malay Language programmes in CLS. She also teaches the Malay Language Modules 1, 2 and 3.
