Be a Volunteer and walk a child to or/and from home & his/her pre-school

Temasek Cares – Project Hand-in-Hand is a community self-help programme which aims to engage Seniors to be mentors to pre-school children.  These children do not attend pre-school regularly due to various challenging family circumstances.  As a result, they miss out on development opportunities during their critical early years.

 

We are looking for active Seniors to accompany the child to and from pre-school regularly.  We will provide a development programme to interact with the child and family, and support you to ensure the wellbeing of the child.  Your life experience can make the difference to a needy child!

This project is being piloted in 3 areas - Ang Mo Kio, Bedok & Jurong

 

Volunteer your time to help a child living in your neighbourhood.

If you are:

• A Singapore citizen or Permanent Resident
• Preferably aged 50 – 70 yrs
• No criminal record
• Able to commit for at least 6 months for an hour before preschool starting time & dismissal in the morning or afternoon or both.

 

Frequency:

• Everyday 2 ways, or
• Everyday 1 way, or
• A few days a week 2 ways, or
• A few days a week 1 way

 

Volunteers will be given a token allowance to defray out of pocket expenses.
