Sustainability @ Tampines Park

Sustainability @ Tampines Park is Singapore’s first and biggest community-based circular ecosystem for sustainable food waste management and food production. This project demonstrates circularity within a residential area using the larvae of the Black Soldier Fly (the second most beneficial insect in the world) to upcycle food waste from the nearby residents and school. The larvae are then used as feed for the tilapia fish culture in the nearby pond, and the frass (excreta from the BSF larvae) is used as fertilizer to grow vegetables in the community farm. As an Otolith Silver Volunteer, you will be trained to assist in all aspects of the daily operations of the project. You will also be trained to guide tours for the younger generation to educate them on the importance of food security and sustainabilty.
