This course will trace the history and development of impressionism and how this movement reacted against academic art and ushered in the modern era. It will discuss the early struggles of impressionist artists such as Monet, Degas and Renoir and the factors which lead to their eventual success. Through this course, you will acquire knowledge of Western Art History, Art in Impressionism and Post Impressionism as it takes on a thematic approach in helping you understand the changes which took place and its role in creating an artistic revolution.
