The course aims to foster a dementia-friendly society by providing quality care and support to persons with dementia, and enabling members of the community through advocacy and training. This course will also debunk myths and shed light to the effects and challenges of communication with people with dementia. At the end of the course, participants will be able to recognise the signs and symptoms of dementia, assist those with dementia in distress and tap on the appropriate community resources to assist persons with dementia

Andy Teng Wei Huang
Andy Teng Wei Huang is a Social Worker in Dementia Singapore and a Team Lead for Dementia Helpline. In the course of his work, Andy provides caregiver support, service linkages and over-the-phone counselling. Additionally, he also supports caregivers through casework and counselling. Andy has attended the Geragogy Workshop in January 2024.Tan Jun Wei
Tan Jun Wei is the Programme Lead for Dementia Singapore’s Meeting Centre Support Programme. He is also certified in Dementia Care Mapping by University of Bradford. He is passionate about supporting persons-living-with-dementia and their caregivers in the community. Jun Wei has attended the Geragogy Workshop in January 2024.Yang Chek
Yang Chek is a registered Senior Nurse Clinician with more than 40 years of nursing experience at public hospitals. She has a Master of Nursing in Mental Health from National Unviersity of Singapore. Besides clinical experiences, Yang Chek has developed training programmes and conduct training for nurses and caregivers on mental health and psycho education.
