Designing and Sculpting Clay Figurines

This course introduces participants to basic designing and sculpturing skills to construct clay figurines. Participants will understand various materials and techniques for model-making and sculpturing. They will cultivate an appreciation for sculptural form and understand the principles of 3D form and space. Participants will study proportion, compositional design and facial features, visualise character design and sculpt the human torso, armature and limbs of a figurine. This course is recommended for arts practitioners, art business owners, working professionals or individuals interested in sculpting clay figurines.

Tay Swee Siong
Tay Swee Siong holds an MA in Contemporary Practice from University of Huddersfield (UK) and a BA in Art from Curtin University of Technology (Australia). He was a full-time lecturer from 1996-2010 in the Fine Arts Department at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), and currently is an adjunct lecturer in the School of Arts and Design. He is an experienced teacher in drawing, painting and sculpturing. He has also initiated numerous community engagements with NTUC Health Senior Activity Centre (SILVERACE) and SAFRA.Reviews on Course
