When a ragtag group of British seniors each decided on a retirement place, they all coincidentally settled for the same hotel in India, based on the enticing pictures on its website. However, when they arrive at the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, they discover that that the place is not all that it was made up to be.
In spite of the quaint location, the hotel is a run-down, dilapidated building, in which the only saving grace is its cheerful manager, Sonny (played by Dev Patel). As each member of the group tries to make the best out of their stay, their interesting weave of experiences and backstories begin to unfold in a poignant and hilarious manner, with everyone ultimately finding redemption and a new lease of life.
With an all-star cast of veteran actors such as Academy Award Winners Judi Dench and Maggie Smith, this critically acclaimed and surprise box-office hit based on Deborah Moggach’s 2004 novel “These Foolish Things” is a film that will be remembered for its humorous and inspiring moments.
