About the Programme/Event

What do you do when you get a hole in your favourite pair of jeans, or the hem of your best skirt comes loose? Do you throw it away, or do you repair it instead?

Join textile artist, Agatha Lee "Agy" , as she shares why we should make our clothes last longer, the history of repair, the techniques involved (including embroidery - Agy’s fave) and how the art of repair is now on the rise.

This session is 1.5 hours and includes Q&A and a demonstration.

About the Artist

Agatha Lee "Agy" is a textile artist transforming textile waste into creative wearables and art using free motion embroidery. Agy's work looks at slowing down and making the invisible visible. She is also passionate about creating environmentally aware communities, and one of her long term projects is getting people to reevaluate their relationship with clothing, and transforming it into a positive one through upcycling and repair. Agy was instrumental in setting up Fashion Revolution SG and the clothing repair arm of Repair Kopitiam, a community repair initiative, and holds workshops, talks and installations.

About A Blip in Time

Since February 2021, 12 women artists with divergent interests, mediums and creative practices embarked on an experimental journey into the intersections of art and technology together with their artistic collaborators, the National Library and its MakeIt spaces. This series is a programme comprising talks and workshops conducted by the artists in a lead up to an art exhibition that will take place at the Jurong Regional Library on 1 - 14 April. Join them in the process of unlearning and relearning and that strange transformative power of taking a first step into the new, the unfamiliar and the uncharted.

NOTE: Registration is only approved if your myLibrary ID is verified.
