What is the difference between an “anxiety attack” and a panic disorder? How do chronic stresses in life predispose a person to develop anxiety disorders? What may predispose a person to become a chronic worrier? How to recognise the signs and symptoms of a generalised anxiety disorder and what to do to reduce them? Are there effective strategies to relief oneself from the “tides“ of anxieties that may flood a person’s mind? How to manage negative stressors in a contemporary society such as Singapore? The talk will attempt to provide an overview of anxieties and answer some of the above questions..
About the speaker
David Chay graduated with a Master of Arts in Applied Health Psychology from the University of Northern Arizona University, at Flagstaff, U.S.A. He had been serving as a mental health profession for 16 years. He is currently in employment as a Senior Counsellor at Caregivers Alliances Limited, Singapore. His present passion is focused on providing psychoeducational workshop and consultation for distressed caregivers (the Hidden Hero) who in their journey of caregiving are themselves struggling with overwhelming emotions. His current research interests focus on “Anxiety management” for adolescents diagnosed with anxiety disorders and on the Prevention of Adolescent Suicide.
