The Singapore music trio of Aaron Lim, Tay Sia Yeun and Peng Chi Sheng present Mandarin and English hits from the ’60s to the ’80s.
Lim, Tay and Peng have been performing together regularly for the past year, having met in 2016 after Tay successfully made it to the Chinese music talent show Sound of My Dreamand attracted the attention of Singapore media and musicians. With the help of Lim and Peng, Tay became a full-time singer and vocal coach. And now the trio performs at various events as well as on live radio shows on Capital 95.8FM with Peng on piano, Tay on vocals and Lim on lead and harmony vocals, under the locally flavoured moniker of #limtaypeng.
About Aaron Lim
Aaron Matthew Lim (林伟强) is Director and Master Vocal Trainer at Intune Music, and has 17 years of teaching experience. He specialises in Voice and Performance, helping his students achieve significant breakthroughs in their singing either by extending their vocal ranges, or guiding them to have greater mastery over their vocal control and tonality. Lim is the first Singaporean to achieve the status of Estill Master Trainer in Estill Voice Training, certified by Estill Voice International in 2016. Lim is also a consummate performer, having performed at public venues like the Esplanade Concourse, Esplanade Outdoor Theatre, The Arts House, and many more.
About Peng Chi Sheng
Peng Chi Sheng (冯启胜), Director and Music Producer at Intune Music Pte Ltd, has 18 years of experience in teaching music. He specialises in helping musicians and songwriting students turn their melodies into catchy tunes for commercial recording projects. In 2011, Peng was honoured to be the assistant producer for Cultural Medallion recipient Liang Wern Fook’s (梁文福) first instrumental CD 《请你告诉她》Please Tell Her.
As a songwriter, Peng has written and published a number of songs for various artistes in the region. These artistes include superstar actor and singer Tony Leung Chiu Wai (梁朝伟) and regional artiste Maggie Teng (邓妙华). In 2015, he wrote and produced the music for 《收听快乐》Tune In, Be Happy, a Chinese New Year song that involved 24 Mediacorp DJs from three Mandarin radio stations (933FM, 972FM and 958FM).
Peng also wrote and produced original tunes for children’s rhymes that were animated. These were used by Ministry of Education (MOE) in the curriculum for Primary 1 and 2 students. As a judge, Peng has appeared on TV on the The Sheng Siong Show, on radio stations like YES 93.3FM and LOVE 97.2FM programmes and singing competitions, and also on China Super Vocal (local edition) 2016 and 2017. He was also the music director for Budweiser Made for Music, PA Singing Festival, xinyao concerts, musicals, and other major music events.
About Tay Sia Yeun
Sia Yeun (夏韵) started performing at Singapore Street Festival and SHINE festival in 2004, driven by her undying passion and desire to sing. Her repertoire covers a wide variety of genres including pop ballads, R&B, blues, jazz, soul, musicals and classical opera, in multiple languages like Mandarin, English, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Cantonese and Hokkien. In 2014, Tay decided to quit her full-time job to pursue her dream in singing. She is the only Singaporean contestant to have successfully made it through to the big stage on 梦Sound of My Dream in 2016, and she chose to contest international superstar JJ Lin in front of an international audience, consisting of judges like singer A-Mei, popular music duo 羽泉, and singer Jam Hsiao! Tay is now an instructor at Intune Music, teaching singing and performing to young children and adults.
