TO ensemble presents a concert that explores the narrative power of music through time - from traditional forms to the contemporary sound which is a confluence of various music.
In the intimate setting of the Play Den, audiences will get to experience up close the various "traditional" music and each's unique ways of expression - from the alap style of improvisation in Carnatic (South Indian) music, the blues and bebop solos of jazz, to the rich tapestries of film and classical music.
The second half of the concert features contemporary fusion works which have become the hallmark of TO ensemble - music that combine these various forms/genres, and blends composition with exhilarating collective improvisation.
Featuring Lazar T.Sebastine (Indian violin), Teo Boon Chye (Saxophone), Tze Toh (piano), additional musicians (TBC) and also exciting upcoming talents, the concert will showcase new works by composer Tze Toh, inspired by the stories of Singapore city yesterday, today and tomorrow.
There will be an open rehearsal on the 29th November (8pm, The Arts House Play Den) where the public can observe the process, participate in the music making. There will also be a composer sharing session, as well as a dialogue with the musicians. *Limited seats. Priority will be given to concert ticket holders.
