Inspired by the grand empires of the Mughals and the colours and kitsch of the Indian streets today, OPIUM by Bubbly J is an artisanal Indian fashion label based in Singapore with an international appeal. From opulent lehengas to light, pastel chiffon sarees, OPIUM has something for everyone—be it a bride-to-be or the modern-day woman who wants something pretty to wear for a special occasion. One thing that separates OPIUM from the rest of the players in the Indian fashion market is the neatness of its collection; there’s nothing that is way over the top, yet each piece holds its own grandeur. Every single element on every outfit, from the fabric to the embroidery, even the tiniest and hidden details like the zips and hooks, have been carefully selected and handpicked by Bubbly during her trips to India. The entire look of OPIUM’s collections has a distinct global feel, which reflects Bubbly's years of experience in beauty and fashion. With an ability to create timeless pieces, OPIUM carries prêt-a-porter and couture lines, which are Indian in their sensibility yet international in their appeal. Its unique combination of historical opulence and contemporary chic sets OPIUM’S creations apart from the others in the market.
The fashion show will be accompanied by live instrumental music performed by Mohd Bashir and Mohd Noor.
About Bubbly Jagpal
Bubbly Jagpal’s name has been synonymous with LOOKS STUDIO. This full-time make-up artist has been in the beauty industry for more than 17 years and needs no introduction. Not only does she have a discerning eye for detail and style, Bubbly, who holds an MBA, also has a sharp mind for business. She has been creating looks for brides, models and celebrities for many years and on the side, she creates garment designs for herself and her family members—purely out of passion and something she regarded as a hobby. It was not until this year, with the support and encouragement from her friends, clients and family members that she took the plunge to launch her own line, OPIUM with her mother, Jit J.
