About Singapore Patient Conference 2017 Singapore Patient Conference (SPC) is a dedicated patient conference with a difference - one where our patients, caregivers, volunteers, community partners and healthcare professionals come together to share their healthcare journeys, and to spark new ideas in co-creating a better healthcare system for all.
The fifth annual Singapore Patient Conference will take place on 20 October 2017 (Friday), at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
The theme of this year’s patient conference is centred on “Volunteerism – Powering Change in Health and Social Care”. Volunteerism is a core part of the “spirit” of health and social care as it plays an important role in community development. In numerous ways, volunteers are now contributing to the delivery of health and social care, and helping people in their communities to live healthier and more fulfilling lives. Volunteers have contributed to health and social care in myriad ways by improving the experience of care and support, strengthening the relationship between services and communities, improving public health and reducing health inequalities and supporting integrated care for people with multiple health needs.
Increasingly recognised as an integral part of the workforce, volunteers can now empower people and communities to fulfil their potential and contribute to social change, creating a greater sense of ownership of their community.
